Scolari not amused by School Level Defending

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has come out strongly against the lacklustre football played by his team to allow a below par Fulham to come out level, 2-2. He was really inconsolable on the manner in which his team committed one elementary mistake after another. The culprit for Chelsea turned out to be Clint Dempsey, the United States player, who scored a crucial 89 minute equalizer through a header. Dempsey had earlier given the hosts an early lead as well from a free kick.

It was Frank Lampard for the visitors who scored twice to raise expectations of an important victory, but all such probability was undone by what can be described as school level defence displayed by the Chelsea defenders.

Scolari was seen engaged in a heated argument with Petr Cech, the Czech goalkeeper, who he thought, was responsible for the team’s unimaginative and disorganised defending. Others to face the Scolari fury include referee Andre Marriner, though the Brazilian denied there was any cacophony between them.

Denying that there was any kind of rift between Andre and himself, Scolari said that the former is one of the best referees in the country. Instead he reflected on his own team’s flaws that cost them vital points. He also stressed that he will diagnose the cause of the defeat so that the mistakes are not repeated in the future. This determination will fortunately bear well for Chelsea fans for the future. Meanwhile the manager admitted that he felt let down by Petr who according to him is given the discretion to mark the men in his area. ‘It is really unbelievable that one player was left completely unguarded in the middle of the area free in the last minute’, he said.
