Treadmill Warm Up Exercise before Beginning your Main Cardio Workout

Warming up is the best way to unlock stiff muscles in your body. Treadmills are generally pretty harsh on your knees and joints which can cause cramps if your body is not loosened up. Jogging and running are one of the most vigorous exercises which put immense pressure on your joints. Warming up for 10 minutes will not only prepare your body to withstand high pressure but will protect you from all sort of injuries. You must consult your physician before starting any sort of exercise routine. A treadmill warm up exercise includes slow jogging at 3 miles per hour.

You should walk slowly for around 10 minutes which will help in increasing the heart rate. Furthermore, a slow walk will actually increase your body temperature and blood flow as well. All these will reduce the risk of some very common injuries you could suffer on treadmills. You should follow the slow walk by some stretching exercises. In the beginning you can stretch your muscles for around 5 minutes and gradually increase the time in some days. You should start by stretching your hands and then move on to your feet and other parts of the body. Hold each and every stretch for around 15 seconds which will make you lose even more calories than normal.

Stretching will also make your muscles flexible which will further reduce the chances of injury while jogging. You should never rush things as it may cause an injury. Stretching and slow walking for 10 minutes can reduce injury risks while working out on the treadmill.
